  • retag add tags

HI I installed the wireshark latest version on windows 10 home 64 bits pc. i can run tshark -i Wi-fi on the command line. but there is no gui windows app display. i search the internet, it is suggested that this is due to the winpcap, npcap problem, but i cannot figure out how to solve it. please help. thanks

but there is no gui windows app display

Do you mean that Wireshark doesn't display anything ever, or do you mean that Wireshark does have a GUI display but it's not showing the Wi-Fi interface, or do you mean that you don't get a GUI display when you run tshark -i Wi-Fi from the command line?

yes, when i enter tshark -i Wi-Fi from the command line, i see the wireshark is capturing wifi data and displaying them in the command window, but no gui displayed

Invoking tshark doesn't create a "GUI", as in an application window, tshark just writes output to the command shell.

To obtain a GUI, invoke Wireshark.

Not even an error? Does wireshark -v give any output?

You can try to install ncap manually. Download the file from https://npcap.com/ and install it with the Wi-Fi raw option.

thank you for your advice, i manually reinstall npcap and restart wireshark, it just work for one min and the application automatically shut down, I check the wifi property, npcap and winpcap driver are working. I restart wireshark again, no gui.
