capturing port info from specific application

good evening having never used wireshark before can anyone confirm if it can be used to get the port info etc for a specific application, this is to allow a client to set up firewall rules for a bundle of applications? Regards

You're trying to use a network monitoring tool to figure out what the operating system knows about the application. That sounds as not using the right tool for the job. Why not ask the operating system directly?

In Linux, for instance, go for 'netstat' or 'ss'. I'm sure Windows PowerShell has something similar, or old trusted sysinternals.
