Apply Filter (Selected) not entered into Filter box

I have Wireshark v3.1.1 (v3.1.1rc0-723-g8ae0cfe60a7e) installed on my Ubuntu 16.04.6 LTS laptop. I cannot get the Apply Filter->Selected (via right-click) to enter the expression into the display filter box. I can however, Copy->As Filter then Paste into the display filter box. While the latter works, the former allows me to quickly build a more complex filter more quickly (less keystrokes, esp. with '... and selected'). I notice that the keyboard shortcut 'CTRL+SHIFT+C' [as defined within the Help->About Wireshark->Keyboard Shortcuts] does not appear to copy the filter - perhaps this is related?

This appears to work fine in an older version (v2.6.0-1) on this laptop and on my Windows machine (v3.0.2).
