Non-IP payload over CoAP protocol

  • retag add tags

Hi all, I am new to this forum,

I am trying to use CoAP over LTE using Non-IP transport., just using CoAP headers and user data. How can I configure wireshark to decode the packets as Non-IP & CoAP? At Diameter interface, I see the Non-IP payload, but when I see at S1ap, Wireshark tries to decode the payload as IPV6 and declares it a malformed packet. I would like to know how to configure to view CoAP+non-ip and also switch back IP+CoAP

I'm not able to upload pictures/files so can not attach more details. thanks

Capture files can be uploaded to any public filesharing service, e.g. Google Drive, DropBox etc. and a link to the capture posted back here.

Hi Maddy,

presumably you are using Control Plane EPS Optimization and the non-IP payload is encapsulated in ESM data transport messages. If this is the case, uncheck the "Try to decode User Data Container as IP" option in the NAS-EPS preferences. If this is not the case, please post a pcap as suggested by @grahamb.
