no packets captured in monitor mode

Using wireshark v2.6.6 Mac OS Mojave (10.14.2), macbook is 2018 generation. I'm connected to my wifi using the macbook's built in wifi adapter. If i do promiscuous I can see traffic going back and forth from macbook to other devices. Moment I turn monitor mode on there is no data capture, nothing!

I went under under Wireshark -> preferences -> protocols -> IEEE 802.11 -> Selected WPA-PSK and provided hex value of SSID and Passcode combined. Got the hex value from this tool : http://jorisvr.nl/wpapsk.html.

My Wifi Router uses WPA2-Personal security authentication for both 2.4Gh and 5Gh. I provided the WPA for both the frequencies under IEEE802.11 as i mentioned above.

Restarted the wireshark application multiple times, researched the wireshark databases for 5.6 hours straight, found nothing useful.

I'd really appreciate if someone could please help.

This may be a bug in the Mojave driver; at least some MacBooks have problems with monitor mode in Mojave. File a bug with Apple at the bug reporter at http://bugreport.apple.com - you might have to open an account with the Apple Developer connection to file a bug.
