capture IP phone causes trouble

Suddenly when I capture an IP phone, the phone acts sluggish and stutters. But only when capture is on. I've captured IP phones for years, same type of equipment. Actually have three mini switches to do port mirroring and all result in the same response with the same Laptop and only when wireshark is running. Could there be a setting I inadvertently turned on?

Somehow the operating system on the laptop may start to react to packet coming in when Wireshark enables promiscuous mode to capture the packets not destined for the laptop. Make sure that all protocols and services are disconnected from the interface you use to capture, so it's idle and only Wireshark is receiving packets from it. Otherwise we'll need more detailed information on the components of your setup to guess what is happening.
