Can Wireshark Portable be used on 64Bit systems?

On the Download page Wireshark Portable is provided in 32Bit only. I know this doesn't consequently mean that you cannot use it under 64Bit systems. I'm asking because for the full version of Wireshark there's separate versions for 32Biit and 64Bit.

Yes. We only build a 32 bit portable version because that's "more" portable to both 32 bit and 64 bit OS's

And because, for example, a 64-bit version may be able to handle larger captures than a 32-bit version, so if you're installing Wireshark on a 64-bit machine, the 64-bit version may work better if you're going to be reading large files. If you don't have a 64-bit machine, the 64-bit version won't work at all, so we offer the choice of 32-bit and 64-bit.

For the "portable" version, a 32-bit "portable" version should work on all Windows 7 and later machines (and a 32-bit "portable" version of 2.2.x should also work on Vista machines), whether 32-bit or 64-bit, but a 64-bit "portable" version will not work if you plug it into a 32-bit machine.

As most PC have at least 8 GB of RAM and as it is more and more difficult to install software on corporate PC, it is possible to have 64 bits portable version ? It really make sense today.

Thanks for your great work since many years.

The place to make such a request would be at the Wireshark GitLab issue tracker.

The issue @Chuckc referenced was closed on June 19, 2021, and 64-bit PortableApps packages have been available since Wireshark 3.6.0, although 32-bit PortableApps packages are no longer supported.
