We are unable to update our Wireshark using the Zscaler App

We are unable to update our Wireshark using the Zscaler App which is configured using a local proxy (127.0.0.1:9000) configuration and Wireshark states it cannot reach the internet although the internet works fine and we can manually download updates just not through the app itself. When we click the "check for updates" it shows the latest update available but when you click "install" it fails and states "Update Error! An error occurred in retrieving update information; are you connected to the internet? Please try again later."

We have tried to completely bypass through the PAC file, whitelisting, etc but it seems to fail even trying to get to the proxy in order to even connect out to the internet. Any assistance would be appreciated.

The "Check for Updates..." hits a site like this. If you try to update, it should download the media file listed on that site. In this example, the file is Wireshark-win64-2.6.2.exewhich is linked to https://1.na.dl.wireshark.org/win64/W....

Unfortunately, I don't think that link works for anybody. From the Download page, it looks like the link should be https://2.na.dl.wireshark.org/win64/W... instead.

I think this is a bug that should be reported at https://bugs.wireshark.org/bugzilla/.

Bug 15020 has been filed.

To close the loop here, Bug 15020 is resolved with later Wireshark releases, the current one as of this writing being 2.6.5, so the automatic updates should be working again.
