How should I share code when I lack the karma to attach it?

  • retag add tags

Actually, I want to ask a question about the behavior of a Lua dissector, but I think this is only sensible with attaching the dissector (2 files, 1908 lines total), and I need more karma to do that. So, this question is: Are there recommended ways (possibly beneficial for the community) to collect the needed karma in a reasonable time (of course I wouldn't want to spend a long time before I can ask the actual question), or is there another solution to my problem?

The command practise is to upload them somewhere else and then link it in your question.

E.g. a public file share. Unfortunately this is required otherwise spammers will abuse the "free" upload option.

Karma is obtained by activity on this site, thus "proving" you're not a spammer.

You could post the files to the wireshark-dev mailing list, along with your questions about them.

This is not the answer to your question, "How should I get karma?" As @grahamb mentioned, "Karma is obtained by activity on this site".

Well, you are right that it isn't strictly the answer to my posed question, but it indeed is the answer to my actual problem. Maybe I should reword the question to "How should I share code when I lack the karma to attach it?"
