Wireshark homelab setup

Hi experts I need your help with below:

  1. I have verizon internet WiFi router
  2. All devices are wirelessly connected to network.

Goal: I want to capture all network traffic incoming and outgoing from all devices.

What devices, special adapter I need to accomplish this? Where do I need to place the network tap device to capture all traffic? Can I also get a router/switch which sports port mirroring to accomplish my goal? Would this work on wireless network?

See the wiki pages on Ethernet Capture Setup and WLAN Capture Setup for more info.

You could attempt to capture WiFI traffic over the air, but this is generally more difficult and less reliable than capturing from a tap or mirror on the access point itself.

Assuming that the Verizon router is the usual locked down consumer type device it won't be helpful in your task. I would obtain another access point, e.g. a more professional device or something running openWRT or similar replacement firmware and connect that to the Verizon router and connect your WiFi devices to the new AP, and hopefully disable WiFi on the Verizon router to make sure.
