What is the best version of Wireshark to download for WSL2?

There's the Stable release, currently 3.4.6, or the Old stable, currently 3.2.14, or the Development release 3.5.x.

Note that the Wireshark project does NOT provide installers for Linux distributions, that's up to the distribution packagers. For this reason, the versions provided may not be the latest.

The Wireshark project doesn't do any CI testing on WSL2.

I don't understand your question. Wireshark is a packet analyser, use it to (optionally) capture traffic and then analyze the captures.

You said I couldn't use it for ci testing with WSL2 so I'm asking how would I best utilize Wireshark and yes im a newby so pls forgive me if i sound stupid

I mentioned that the "Wireshark Project" does no testing with WSL2, whereas we do test with Windows Server x64 & x86, macOS and Ubuntu. Wireshark may well work with WLS2, I'm not aware of any reported problems.
