Network interfaces do no come up during reboot after installing Wireshark on Windows Server 2012 R2

Hi,

I have VMs in Azure running windows server 2012 R2 and having 2 network interfaces, I tried to install wireshark:

  1. I have installed latest Wireshark (3.4.5 64-bit) on the VM
  2. Rebooted the VM
  3. After reboot VM became unreachable
  4. logging in to the VM via serial console shows ipconfig /all has only one loopback interface
  5. uninstalled wireshark and npcap from commandline and rebooted the VM, network interfaces came up.

This is an older problem happened on older versions also. Last good known version is 2.6.4.

Do you have any idea why it is blocking network interfaces? What logs/configs should I check?

Thanks /Tamás

Are you modifying the ncap install options at all?

Regardless, this is more than likely an npcap issue (as that's what actually connects to the interfaces) so the npcap issue tracker is a more appropriate place to pursue this.
