Unable to connect to internet through ethernet

  • retag add tags

I think wireshark sets up a second ethernet setting through npcap which disallows me to connect to the internet using my existing ethernet protocol. How do I reconnect using ethernet?

That's not what happens. npcap is added to the networking stack on Windows as a filter driver to allow it capture packets as they are sent and received.

npcap can add an pseudo adaptor "for loopback traffic capture" but that's not visible to normal application use of the network.

npcap (and it's predecessor WinPcap) have been known to cause issues with certain VPN applications, are you using any of those?

Have you looked at the npcap issues? This one seems similar.

Hm.. I changed the adapter setting for the second ethernet to same as the first. Seems to work. Dont know if wireshark will work though.
