How do I capture pause frames on a Windows hosts?

  • retag add tags

I'm seeing millions of rxpause frames on some switchports connected to my Commvault windows media agents, and I'd like to remedy this somehow. First, I'd like to see the frames on the windows host. I've captured some traffic with the display filter "macc.opcode == pause" but I do not see anything although the RxPause stat is incrementing on the switch. After we can prove these are coming from the host, maybe we'll disable flow control on the NIC to see if that has an effect on the pause frames. Looking for some guidance here.

That's pretty low in the stack.
Any chance you can do the capture with a network tap ?

Not sure we own a tap. I doubt it, but I'll check.
