Can listen but not save VoIP data

Moin,

I can hear the RTP via Wireshark, but saving the rtp as .au leads to "codec not supported - file incomplete".

  1. Which codec would be needed to be supported by Wireshark
  2. Where do I get it?
  3. How do I make Wireshark use it

Thank you in advance OCS

Playing and exporting RTP are different features. While playing has been instrumented to accommodate various codecs, for saving this is currently limited to PCM codec only.

I checked with page https://wiki.wireshark.org/HowToDecodeG729 that says that you can "save the stream with option .raw or best .au - which would allow me to forward with another tool (e.g. "VLC media player" or "audacity"). It also mentions codec G729 for the coding of the stream. It shall be installed as plugin in Wireshark. My Wireshark screen doesn't show the "options", but only "Sychronized / Asycrone / Audiostream / CSV" which then results as "codec not supported" (see above). So where is the error. Thanx
