Next Wireshark stable release version and date

Hi,

Please let me know the next Wireshark stable release version and release date.

This question with regards to following feature:

  • I checked with current stable release i.e. 3.0.6, and I observed that, Wireshark do not support the escaped characters as UTF-8 in “detail decode”/"Info" section in the GUI. E.g. Call-ID: 11c11w\303\[email protected]
  • However, with current development version i.e. 3.1.0, it corrently shows the escaped characters as UTF-8 in “detail decode”/"Info" section in the GUI. E.g. Call-ID: 11c11wü[email protected]

So, please let me know next stable release version of Wireshark with this feature along with the possible release date.

Thanks,

Ajit

Note that what you would want is the next major release of Wireshark, i.e. Wireshark 3.2, because this is fixed only in the current development version. As Jaap notes below, the schedule currently lists a date that has already passed.

The next release of Wireshark is currently scheduled for December 4, 2019, but you can always find out when the next release is scheduled by visiting the Roadmap wiki page.

Actually you should look at the LifeCycle wiki page. The roadmap only shows the maintenance release planning, the lifecycle show the intentions to start and stop support of a release. It now lists Q3 2019 for 3.2 (which has already passed), the latest insights now suggests Q1 2020.

Well, the question was about the next stable release version and release date, which is only listed on the Roadmap page, not on the Lifecycle page. The Lifecycle page is referenced at the top of the Roadmap page though in case one is interested in more details about future/past releases.

The feature which I mentioned in my question is available in development release 3.1.0. And as mentioned in at Wireshark 3.1.0 Development Release page, this feature will be available in stable release 3.2 and as per the LifeCycle, the release date for 3.2 stable release is "Q3 2019", which has already passed. So, could you please have any idea about possible release date of 3.2 stable release ?
