How do I add netsnmp mib files to wireshark

  • retag add tags

I have tried adding the netsnmp mib files to wireshark/snmp/mibs, but when I run a capture file with snmp the oids are not decoded. It looks like this: get-request 1.5.6.1.6.562.56.78.3.6. Is there anything else that I need to do?

get-request 1.5.6.1.6.562.56.78.3.6

Should that be 1.3.6..... not 1.5.6......
Actually that whole OID is suspect. What is it supposed to be?

Enterprise ID 562 is Nortel.
Did you load a MIB definition file that includes enterprise 562?

Can you upload a capture of the get request and a copy of the MIB file to a public file share?

Yes, you have to tell Wireshark which MIB modules to load. In Preferences, Name Resolution you have to add the MIB module to load to the list.

Beware, this is not the filename (although usually similar), but the name of the module defined in the MIB file.
