MAC Address Recording

  • retag add tags

Hi, I'm new to Wireshark. Is it possible to timestamp and record MAC addresses that simply do a "handshake" with a router? Not actually connect/obtain an IP. Just handshake. The idea is I would know the MAC addresses of devices that entered into my house and "saw" the WiFi network. Thanks!

Hi,

I think you want to capture WLAN packets to monitor traffic to your access point.

You can set Wireshark to capture those packets and you'll see MAC addresses.

Please read the WLAN Wiki for more info on WLAN capture.

Cheers,

JFD
