Name Resolution is not working Wireshark v2.6.5 under Linux

  • retag add tags

Hi,

I do encounter that Name Resolution is not working Wireshark v2.6.5 under Linux server machine. Currently, the hosts file is under /etc/ directory. I tried many things and even searched some related questions from this forum. However, the issue remained the same.

Please note that I do have Wireshark installed on my computer laptop running window OS, therefore, I know to setup under window enviroment.

Any idea? Thanks in advance

So it's not resolving any IP addresses to names?

What are the preference settings for "Name Resolution"? Is "Resolve network (IP) addresses" checked?

Thank you Guy for comment. I was able to resolve the issue.

Basically, the setting is correct....just the hosts file was not in the proper location/directory since we are running the wireshark server over Linux.
